Jonnie Irwin, 47, has gone off on a Twitter rampage at Prime Minister Boris Johnson, 57, for not wearing a mask. The presenter expressed his view on the mask wearing rule, saying the Prime Minister is currently “blundering around hospitals”, not wearing a mask.
I’m the only person wearing a face mask.
Jonnie expressed on Twitter in view of his 19,300 followers what he thought about the mask wearing rule and Boris Johnson.
Along with his message, the Place in the Sun presenter included a selfie of himself on a train wearing a face mask with fingers pointing to his head.
He wrote: “Sat on a busy train and I’m the only person wearing a face mask.
“Hardly surprising when I see our current PM blundering around hospitals refusing to wear one.”
He continued: “Oh, and don’t start me on his return home from #Cop26 via… airplane! #trainrant.”
It was reported last week that Boris was flying back from the Cop26 climate conference on a private plane rather than a train after spending two days warning world leaders to reduce their emissions.
The prime minister left himself open to accusations of hypocrisy after urging other countries to do everything possible to pledge lower emissions and warning that they would be judged by their children if they fail to act.
Jonnie’s supporters were quick to his Twitter comments to express their view on the mask wearing rule and our prime minister.
Nealfelpham said: “We flew into the UK this weekend and were surprised at how few were wearing masks.
“Thankfully we are now back in Spain.”
Clareboyland added: “Well done Jonnie!
“A few of us make a majority!”
Linda_T01 disagreed with Jonnie, claiming: “Most people won’t wear them anyway so it doesn’t matter if Boris wears his or not.
“Always someone to blame.”
Mrs_Mazzy responded: “He should lead by example.
“You do NOT visit a hospital and not wear a mask!”
In 2004, Jonnie was selected from hundreds of applications along with co-star Jasmine Harman to present Channel 4’s A Place in the Sun.
Since then he has filmed over 200 episodes, with the series gaining popularity over the years.
Over the past ten years, Jonnie has advised clients on business and property from small high street gift shops to multi million pound corporate hotel packages.
He still runs a property and business consultancy along with his presenting role.
