BET Awards To Be Held Virtually On June 28

BET has revealed that the network is moving forward with the 20th annual BET Awards, with the event to be held virtually on June 28.

The event will utilize “innovative techniques and artist-generated content” as BET celebrates the 20th anniversary of the awards show and the 40th anniversary of the network.

“At BET, we place the health and safety of attendees, staff, vendors, and partners first, which is why the biggest night in black entertainment will go on implementing this innovative production direction,” said Connie Orlando, EVP specials, music programming and music strategy at BET.

“For the past 20 years, The BET Awards have paid homage to all things now and relevant,” she added. “Despite the challenges of today, we will deliver a show filled with larger than life, inspiring, empowering and entertaining moments, which have shown the magic of our culture for over two decades.”

Nominees for the BET Awards as well as the identity of the host and the lifetime achievement award recipient will be announced on a later date.

While the awards show is going ahead virtually, the three-day BET Experience leading up to the event has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
