Bill Maher's Real Time halted as fully-vaccinated host gets Covid

Real Time with Bill Maher has been forced to halt filming after its host, who is fully vaccinated against Covid-19 has tested positive for the disease.

The series was due to shoot its latest episode today in the US, however HBO has confirmed filming has been scuppered after Maher returned a positive coronavirus result during routine weekly PCR testing.

Guests joining the political satirist this week were Neil deGrasse Tyson, World War Z author Max Brooks and Hardcore Histories podcast host Dan Carlin.

In a statement shared with Variety, HBO insisted the host ‘feels fine’ and is asymptomatic.

It read: ‘Bill tested positive during weekly staff PCR testing for Covid. He is fully vaccinated and as a result is asymptomatic and feels fine.

‘Real Time production has taken every precaution following Covid CDC guidelines. No other staff or crew members have tested positive at this time. The show will be rescheduled at a later date.’
