Proud mum Carol Vorderman shared a rare family update on social media last night. The 60-year-old television presenter posted a string of pictures of her son Cameron online and told fans that said she was so “proud” of his achievement, as she revealed that he had graduated with a masters degree from the University of Dundee.

Carol shares Cameron, 24, and Katie, 30, with her ex husband Patrick King.

She went on to say that her youngest child was bullied at school and labelled “thick” but has persevered.

He studied animation at UWE Bristol before continuing his education.

Alongside her snaps, Carol wrote: “So my son Cameron grew up, stuck with it [schooling], through endless bullying (you’re thick!!!), changed school, developed strategies to learn, worked hard and eventually got a FIRST CLASS DEGREE IN ANIMATION FROM @UWEBristol last summer.”

“Now he has just received A MASTERS DEGREE FROM @dundeeuni.”

“Now he is THE MASTER and I couldn’t be more proud of him,” she proudly added, in view of her 157,000 followers.

“I always knew he would make it with the right help but the mainstream system doesn’t cater well for mort children with these severe learning difficulties. Their development curve is a different shape.”(sic)

“They have their superpower and one day THEY find their path IF they’re guided well. #education #specialeducation,” her post continued.

Many rushed to the comment section of their post to praise the star for speaking out and for her son for his achievement.

“THIS IS AMAZING!!!” wrote Steps star Ian H Watkins.

Actress Claire Sweeney shared a similar thought: “Omg this is amazing Carol. Well done Cameron.”(sic)

Christine McGuinness, who has spoken openly about parenting three children with autism, added two hearts and a hands in the air emoji.

“This has really really really made my day yessssss Cameron,”(sic) added Davina McCall, before sharing the post on her own account.

“Please read this post if your kid is struggling with learning difficulties or being bullied. It is so inspiring,” the Masked Singer panellist added.

Carol also shared a post which celebrated her son’s journey.

It began: “This is my son Cameron and a story of celebration.”

She explained that her son had been a happy toddler but she noticed that he had severe special educational needs before he started school.

The mum-of-two struggled to get one to accept him and she even considered giving up work to teach him, but soon realised that she did not have the skills to teach a child with his needs.

“Cam went to a ‘special school’ for 5 yrs where they specialised in teaching children like him,” she explained.

“Then he changed school to mainstream age 10 but still had additional specialist help. I knew he was super bright but that his development curve would be a different shape to ‘normal’.

“It’s very hard for these kids. They get bullied and told they’re ‘odd’ when really they have a superpower because they see the world a different way,” Carol added.
