Coleen Nolan considering an elective mastectomy after being told she has ‘incredibly high’ chance of getting cancer

Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan has revealed she’s considering an elective mastectomy after her family have been struck by a series of cancer tragedies.
Opening up during tonight’s emotional instalment of Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, which focuses on her life and career, Coleen explained she has spoken to a specialist about the potential procedure.
This comes after the 56 year old lost her sister Bernie to breast cancer in 2013, while in recent years, two more of her sisters, Linda and Anne, revealed they have also been diagnosed with the disease.

Speaking about her own health fears following her family’s news, Coleen tells Piers: “I’m seriously looking into elective mastectomy. I’ve spoken to a specialist so far to see.”
She continued to say that she had an honest and frank conversation with doctors who told her she has an “incredibly high” chance of getting cancer herself.
In the preview clip published by The Mirror, Coleen continued: "I’ve said, look what are my chances of this and he said, incredibly high.”

“And although we don’t carry the gene – the known gene BRCA1 and BRCA2 – he said it will be gene related somewhere, it will just be a gene we haven’t found.”
Emotions also ran high for the mum-of-three when she spoke to Piers about the sad passing of her sister Bernie and the heartbreaking effects her death had on her and the rest of the family.
Recalling Bernie’s attitude while she was having treatment, Coleen explained: “Bernie would not accept any other scenario except she’s going to live.”

“Whatever they said, she was going to live. And I guess she convinced us of that as well," she added.
Now, Coleen, her sisters and the rest of her family keeps Bernie’s memory alive by talking about her and their memories together.
Revealing how much she misses her each day, Coleen continued: “I’ll never ever forget her.”
“And we talk about her as if she’s still here and it still does feel like she’s a massive part of our family because whatever we do, Bernie is mentioned.”
“Sometimes sadly because everything we do we say, Bernie would love this. She was just so full of life and it was, it was… hard.”
