Corrie 2021 spoilers: Teens in danger, death trauma and murder secret explodes
With the coercive abuse story and the tragedy of losing Oliver, it’s been a tough year for the residents of Coronation Street but at least David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) and Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding) ended the year on a high with some much needed Christmas joy.
But what does 2021 have in store for the residents of Weatherfield?
Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) has spent the last year dealing with attacks of confidence and trust and this led to body issues, resulting in skin bleaching.
She then had the humiliation of a sexual video being leaked but now, as she finds herself in a relationship with Corey, it soon becomes clearer and clearer that he isn’t treating her like she deserves. Desperate to be loved and have positive attention, Asha is blinded to Corey – can anyone show her that she deserves better?
Meanwhile, other teens are dealing with major troubles that are beyond their years as Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) has an alcoholic dad and a grieving mum to try and support. Peter (Chris Gascoyne) is pretty much resigned to death as his health situation reaches a critical level but can anyone get through to him? And can there be a future for him and Carla Connor (Alison King)?
As for Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson), she is a broken woman after the devastating loss of Oliver and she is not letting anyone in to support her. After spending a desperately lonely end to the year, she hits rock bottom and Simon finds himself making a big choice.
Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) is a girl on a mission to find out the truth about what happened to her dad Rick – and her sights are set firmly on Gary Windass (Mikey North). When Gary finds himself starting the year in a serious situation, is the truth about Rick’s death set to finally explode? And will Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) be able to stand by him or is more heartbreak ahead?
Coronation Street will also launch some topical stories in the new year as the teenage characters find themselves central to an issue led plot in spring while the Bailey family find themselves embroiled in a hard hitting racism storyline?
The rest of the Street also remains in jeopardy with sex pest and control freak Ray Crosby (Mark Frost) still determined to push ahead with his re-development plans. But will Faye (Ellie Leach) speak out about what he did to her – and could Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) realise she is working with a monster and be left with a dilemma of which side to finish on?
Meanwhile, after her ordeal at the hands of Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew), Yasmeen (Shelley King) has a lot of recovering and adjusting to do to regain her confidence and control over her life but she soon finds an opportunity to test her strength and courage. And while one local gets a blast from the past, another faces a grim year as they face prison.
