Corrie’s Richard Hawley plans to return to school after Johnny Connor death

Coronation Street's Richard Hawley has shared his career move plans after Johnny Connor's tragic death, that left Weatherfield residents and viewers at home heartbroken.

Richard, who arrived on the cobbles in 2015, had played Johnny Connor for almost seven years before plunging to his tragic death during Friday's episode (October 22).

Revealing what he'll be getting up to in life after Corrie, actor Richard opened up in his exit interview where he spoke of his plans.

"I am going to train and volunteer in Forest School in Lymley Woods near where I live," he said.

"We are going to be fundraising and creating a pilot project around play, mental health and nature, primarily for children to start with.

"I hope to make a documentary about that, we are going to spend a year getting it all set up."

The Bradford-born actor's character tragically died in the soap after attempting to save ex-wife Jenny after she fell through the Platt family's sinkhole during the Horror-nation Street event.

In his exit interview, actor Richard explained that he was "ready" to leave the popular soap.
