Countryfile viewers furious as 'time-wasting' presenter derails Christmas weather report
COUNTRYFILE viewers were left infuriated after meteorologist Darren Bett provided a “time-wasting” forecast for the upcoming Christmas period.
On Sunday evening, Matt Baker presented a special of Countryfile alongside the likes of Adam Henson and Charlotte Smith.
And with Christmas now just days away, BBC viewers were keen to learn what the big day’s weather would look like – but there was a big problem.
This Wednesday coming, Darren warned a “battle” would be taking place as milder air comes in from the Atlantic while colder air approaches from the east.
Christmas Day, however, was somewhat of an inconclusive story as Darren admitted: “Now, as we move further into the week and, unfortunately, closer to Christmas, there’s huge amounts of uncertainty.
“It’s possible that the low pressure and the milder air will slide to the south of the UK and that colder air is going to be dominant.”
As an image of the forecast appeared on-screen, the resident weatherman warned viewers not to take the pictures as proof.
“If that’s the case, this is what Christmas Eve will look like,” he explained.
In the end, the weather expert explained there would be little point trying to confirm what the conditions on Christmas Day would look like.
He told viewers: “So, I’d love to show you the forecast for Christmas Day, but there’s just too much uncertainty and it’s probably not worth it. That’s it, goodbye.”
And it didn’t take long for bewildered Countryfile viewers to share their thoughts on the bizarre report.
Alongside a confused-faced emoji, one fan sarcastically penned: “This weeks weather will mainly be winter.”
Someone else said: “Basically they don't have a scooby doo what the weather's going to be like over Christmas.”
