Dancing On Ice has been hit by fresh fears that another couple will have to pull out of the competition after Hamish Gaman has suffered a nasty injury.

The 37 year old professional skater, who is partnered with Faye Brookes on the current series of the hit ITV show, has torn a tendon in his hand after putting on a sock.

Hamish's injury means he and the Coronation Street star had to make last minute changes to their routine at the weekend as he decided to perform against the advice of doctors.

But he has now admitted he may need surgery after the injury, meaning he and Faye could become the series' record breaking fifth couple to bow out of the competition.

Denise Van Outen, Rufus Hound, Billie Faiers and Joe-Warren Plant have all been forced to withdraw from the show due to injuries and positive coronavirus test results since the series started five weeks ago.

Hamish told Heat radio: "Unfortunately I'm in a situation where I may have to withdraw if I need surgery. I would be heartbroken, Faye has worked so hard.

"Faye wasn't fully aware but I snapped a tendon in my hand and I was advised before the show that I'm putting my finger at risk for the rest of my life here.

"It's one of those scenarios where there was a lot of people dropping out of the show and I love this show so much and I didn't want to let the team down.

"They strapped up my hand so I could get through the show. We had to make a lot of changes to the routine last minute, we re-choreographed the whole second-half.

"Faye did incredible to learn the routine last minute. We had to change all of our lifts because of my hand, as I couldn't do certain movements."
