BBC viewers tuned-in in their millions for another instalment of Strictly Come Dancing to bring some much-needed sparkle to Saturday nights. Last night’s edition showcased a huge mixture of ability as some couples prevailed whilst others did not fare so well in the popular theme week. One couple who made an impact was Dianne and Max, however, some were left commenting on a supposed wardrobe malfunction suffered by the former after “flashing her knickers” – which seemed to be intentional as it appeared to be part of her costume.

It was the weirdest dance of the night and something fans of the programme certainly won’t be forgetting for a while.

The pair performed one of the first Couple’s Choice routines of the series to The Simpsons theme tune.

And Max and Dianne went all out, dressed as Marge and Homer Simpson.

Their faces were painted bright yellow as well as sporting yellow bodysuits.

And despite the dance leaving viewers at home baffled, the couple got a flood of praise from the judging panel.

However, something else left fans distracted last night during the mesmerising routine.

Dianne showed off Marge’s ‘underwear’ at various points throughout the performance.

And viewers soon took to Twitter to comment on the supposed wardrobe malfunction – amongst other things.

One shared: “B****y loved that routine! Also, love Dianne’s blue knickers, completes the dance #Strictly.”

“Could’ve gone my whole life without seeing Marge Simpson’s knickers but apparently Strictly Come Dancing had other plans for me,” commented another.

A third joked: “Bold of the BBC to think Marge Simpson would wear granny pants #strictly.”

Another said: “Mmmmmm that was some super unflattering angles of Dianne’s Marge underwear… great character from Max!”

Despite the routine splitting the audience, there were many positive comments to come from those watching at home.

One fan penned: “Max and Dianne’s Simpsons dance was a guilty pleasure for me. Grew up watching the show so it felt cool seeing it come to life #Strictly.”

Another noted: “Great episode of #Strictly tonight. My personal favourite was Max and Dianne as Homer and Marge from the Simpsons. Awesome costumes and dancing! Definitely a ‘woohoo!’ rather than a ‘doh!’

“Max and Dianne smashed it #Strictly,” wrote a third, with another adding: “Max and Dianne doing The Simpsons man, absolutely loved it #Strictly.”

The panel all couldn’t help but compliment the routine and awarded them 24 points in total

Motsi Mabuse told the pair: “This is what I’m talking about. You gave me energy, it was a very difficult routine.”

Usually hard-to-please Craig Revel Horwood also rated the dance, noting people would either “love it or hate it” before admitting he “loved” it.

As the pair remain near the top of the bookmakers’ favourites to win the show, could they end up making it all the way to the final?
