DIY SOS star Nick Knowles has opened up on why his 33 year old girlfriend has been left fearing 'for his life'.

The 60 year old star has been filming for a new Channel 5 programme but has left his girlfriend panicked that he could 'die'.

Nick has admitted that his partner, Katie Dadzie, who he has been dating for the last two years, is not always the biggest fan of what he gets up to away from her.

After visiting Mout Etna earlier this year for a filming project, the volcano started to erupt, sparking a fear among the crew.

Opening up on how her fears have been 'pressurising' for the pair, Nick revealed: “The most recent adventures have been quite a lot more pressurised than before.

“But Katie knows it is not going to stop me doing things because I am afraid of them so there is not a lot she can do about it.

"She does tell me how worried she is and I know I really scared her when I literally almost died on a gyrocopter.”

Nick recounted a moment on Channel 5's Escaping the Grand Canyon with Nick Knowles where he admitted a lightning strike whilst travelling did not help to alleviate his girlfriend's scary thoughts.

Chatting at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Nick said: “We were flying over the Grand Canyon and there was a sudden change in the weather and we got stuck in a lightning cloud.

“It all got a bit ugly. My life did flash before me but luckily, I am here to tell the tale.
