Dotty's EastEnders exit scenes confirmed after big surprise in Dot's will

Dotty Cotton (Milly Zero) is set to go out with a bang as her EastEnders exit storyline is set in motion in the coming weeks.

The popular character, who has been a regular face in Albert Square for the last three years, mourns the loss of her beloved grandma Dot Branning (June Brown) next week.

Word of Dot’s death reached the residents of Walford last week, after Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) received a phone call, notifying her of the sad news.

Dot’s funeral takes place on Monday, December 12, as faces from the past and present unite in a bid to say a fond farewell to the iconic character.

Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman), Dot’s great nephew, arrives in the Square for the sad event and he hits it off with Sonia, who requests that he stay put until after the will reading, as she fears she may be left homeless when Dotty inherits the house.

On the day of the reading, Sonia is incredibly nervous. Dotty, however, is excited at the thought of selling the house and travelling around the world.

Dot’s solicitor, Kenneth Foskett, subsequently arrives and divulges Dot’s last wishes to Sonia, Dotty, Reiss and Jack (Scott Maslen).

But who got what?

That remains to be seen, but we do know that Dotty will leave Walford in subsequent scenes.

‘After three and a half years, I have decided my journey with the icon that is Dotty Cotton has come to an end,’ actress Milly Zero said in a statement on Instagram last month.

‘I can’t tell you how life changing and incredible my time at EastEnders has been, and how much I am going to miss it, but I am ready for new challenges now.

‘Thank you to everyone that made it so special, I have made friends for life, learnt huge amounts and made memories to last a lifetime.

‘I can’t wait for you all to watch her exit, she goes out with a bang!’

One to watch: Tuesday December 15 at 7:30pm on BBC One.
