Dustin Diamond diagnosed with cancer after Saved By The Bell star ‘ignored lump’

Dustin Diamond has been diagnosed with stage four cancer after discovering a lump on his body and ignoring it.

The Saved By The Bell actor is currently awaiting further tests to reveal how serious the cancer is.

A statement posted to Dustin's official Facebook page read: "At this time we can confirm that Dustin does have cancer. Dustin will disclose more information once it is available and a plan moving forward is made.

"We ask everyone to respect Dustin's privacy during this difficult time. All positivity and prayers are appreciated."

The star's rep added to The Today Show that "it's serious, but we don't know how serious yet."

He continued: "He’s going for testing.

"He hasn’t been feeling well. He's at an undisclosed hospital in Florida. We are hoping for a speedy recovery."

Dustin is hoping an update on his condition will come as soon as next week.

Dustin, now 44, shot to fame as a child star when he played Screech in hit US show Saved By The Bell.

He later reprised the role in the show's follow-up series Saved by the Bell: The College Years and Saved by the Bell: The New Class.

In 2013 he re-found fame in the UK after taking part in Celebrity Big Brother.

However, after 16 days he was evicted from the camera-filled house.

In December TMZ reported that Dustin was hospitalised after complaining of "pain all over his body".
