Ed Sheeran thought he might be gay because he loved musicals and Britney Spears
ED Sheeran thought he might be gay growing up because he loved musicals and songs by Britney Spears.
The pop superstar, 30, said he used to question his sexuality because he felt so in touch with his “big feminine side”.
Ed, who has one-year-old daughter Lyra with wife Cherry Seaborn, 29, said he has never felt “hugely masculine” and is not into cars.
The Thinking Out Loud singer added: “I have a definite feminine side, to the point that when I was a kid I thought I was gay for a bit.
“I definitely have a big feminine side. I love musical theatre, I love pop music, I love Britney Spears.
"My masculine side probably stops at drinking beer and watching football.”
Ipswich Town fan Ed says he prefers women’s footie to men’s, having converted when he saw a televised game shortly after Lyra’s birth.
He told Dutch podcast Man Man Man: “I watched it and I was like, ‘I don’t know why I watch male football, this is much better’.
"I am not a hugely masculine person anyway. I am not a car guy. I like a nice car, but I’m not a car guy.”
Ed, who has kissed comic Greg Davies, 53, on a Comic Relief broadcast and prankster Keith Lemon, 48, on ITV’s Celebrity Juice, added: “My wife is super pro-women and femininity.
"As soon as we started dating, my life shifted to that.”
