Ellie Kemper thinks a Brad and Jen reunion is ‘what America needs right now’
Ellie Kemper is one of many who was taken aback by Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston‘s epic reunion during Sunday night’s SAG Awards, telling Page Six that photos of the exes on good terms is just what the public needs to see.
“I have so many throughs on this subject,” Kemper, 39, told Page Six Wednesday during Tropicana’s Manhattanhenge activation in New York.
“First of all, when Brad Pitt finished his SAG Award speech, my husband and I turned to each other and — I’m not kidding — my husband said, ‘I think I need a moment,’” Kemper shared through laughter. “Isn’t Brad Pitt the most likable man in America? Not only are you the hottest man I’ve ever seen, but you just said the most likable acceptance speech in the world.”
She went on, “[Brad and Jennifer] together? — I mean, I’ve only seen pictures, I don’t know what’s actually happening — but it’s what America needs right now! I cannot be more excited about it, I just love it!”
Kemper also briefly discussed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent Megxit drama, saying she doesn’t know much about it, but believes the couple should “do what they want to do,” even if she wouldn’t be inclined to do the same.
“I’m very traditional,” Kemper confessed, “so I’d be way too scared to cross the Queen.”
One queen in Kemper’s life is good friend and fellow “The Office” alum Mindy Kaling, whom the star gushed over while recalling her days on the hit comedy.
“I adore her,” Kemper said of the “Late Night” star. “I think her energy is contagious. If I text her, if I see her, I feed off of her energy! I don’t talk to her regularly, but whenever I do, it’s like no time has passed, and we just pick up where we left off.”
In fact, Kemper’s favorite episode of the NBC favorite was written by Kaling, 40.
“‘Secretary’s Day’ is my personal favorite because Mindy wrote that and I got to be in so many scenes, and I just remember that week being one of the most spectacular of my life.”
Kemper went on to lead Netflix comedy “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” continuing her career in comedy alongside fellow funny people Tituss Burgess, Jane Krakowski and Carol Kane. While she’s comfortable with her comedic chops, there is something within the St. Louis native that’s willing to explore something new.
“I’m definitely comfy in my comedic space,” Kemper confessed, “and for that reason, I think it might be important for me to try something outside of my comfort zone. I would love to do something dramatic, it’d just have to be the right role. But I do think it’s important for me to challenge myself.”
