Danny has portrayed the character of Aaron for the past 13 years and he has been at the centre of some of Emmerdale’s most hard-hitting storylines; from struggling to accept his sexuality to realising he was sexually abused by his father. The young man has become a fan favourite on the ITV soap and when the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! star revealed he was quitting the role, viewers were left heartbroken. In Monday’s episode, Chas Dingle’s (played by Lucy Pargeter) son left the village under tragic circumstances but the door has been left open for him to return in the future. Here is everything you need to know about why Danny decided to leave the show.
Why has Danny Miller quit Emmerdale as Aaron Dingle?
When it was announced Danny was going to be a contestant on this year’s edition of I’m A Celebrity, fans presumed his character would take a short break from the soap to line up with his stint in the Welsh castle.
Unfortunately, days before the reality competition got underway, the Aaron star gave an interview in which he explained he had quit and was not going back.
The soap star said in an interview with the press: “I’ve actually left Emmerdale and unfortunately decided to start a new path in life.
“I’ve got my baby now and I’m getting married next year and it felt like the right time to open a new chapter in my life.
“It feels so strange telling people because I haven’t really talked about it. I feel quite emotional about it actually.”
The actor went on to say how the role was a “massive part” of his life but he had been looking for a new direction for a while.
Danny explained being a contestant on I’m A Celebrity would open up more doors for him but the money he would be making from the show would allow him to have a year off.
He also added how wanting to spend time with his young son Albert was a reason why he was leaving because he’d seen his co-stars in the past struggle to be a member of the cast and a new parent.
He will always be “very protective” of Aaron, the father of one admitted before stating it was time for his character to start a new life.
A return in the future has not been ruled out as the bosses of the ITV soap decided not to kill off the character in Monday’s episode.

How did Aaron Dingle leave Emmerdale?
Aaron’s departure from the show has been teased for a few episodes following the tragic demise of his boyfriend, Ben Tucker (Simon Lennon).
The young man was left heartbroken by the murder, not realising it was Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu) who struck his lover down.
As his little sister, Liv Flaherty (Isobel Steele) had an altercation with Ben on the night of his death, she has become a prime suspect.
Her brother didn’t want to believe she was capable of doing such a thing but as she was so drunk on the night in question, she can’t remember if she did it or not.
With the days passing by, Aaron became less reluctant to accept his sister’s pleas for mercy and told her in no uncertain terms their relationship had come to an end.
In Monday’s episode and after Liv failed to make bail, Aaron told her they were no good for each other and needed some time apart.
Although she was going to face one of the greatest fights of her life trying to plead her innocence, he told her he would not be by her side.
This left her heartbroken as Aaron walked out of the questioning room and he made his way back to the village to say his goodbyes.
As well as bidding farewell to his uncle, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), he also shared an emotional goodbye with his mother, Chas.
He explained he was going to be moving to Cornwall, as he and Ben had been planning before he was murdered by Meena.
Chas wanted him to stay, pleading with him to stick around in the village so she could keep an eye on him and support him.
However, Aaron explained his time had come to start a new chapter in his life but offered his mother the chance to come and visit him.
The mechanic got into his car and breaking down in tears, drove away from the village passing many of its iconic landmarks.
As he got to the junction to turn away from the Dales, Danny’s character gave a big smile as he was ready for his new beginning.
In the coming weeks, it’s likely the character will be mentioned several times due to him being absent from Liv’s trial.
How did viewers react to Danny Miller leaving Emmerdale as Aaron Dingle?
Fans flocked to Twitter to share their reactions to Danny’s final scenes, with Louise writing: “Gutted to see him leave.
“Definitely deserved a better exit storyline! Hope he returns to the village in the future with his soulmate Robert [Sugden] and best friend Adam Barton.”
Jo added: “He will be sorely missed. Hopefully one day he will return and you never know it might be with Robert.”
Paul posted on the social media platform: “Can’t blame him. If he wasn’t crying he was just left with no storyline after Robert left.”
“He’s like the Bianca of EastEnders, always in tears ….but he does it so well he’s an incredible actor. Going to miss you lots, Aaron,” Tammi commented.
