Emmerdale’s Sammy Winward wows fans as she unveils ‘identical’ actress daughter

Emmerdale fans were shocked when much loved character Katie Sugden was pushed to her death by her brother-in-law (and ex-lover) Robert in 2015.

Panelists Kaye Adams, Stacey Solomon, Janet Street-Porter, and Jane Moore were interviewing Sammy and her lookalike 16-year-old daughter Mia.

Kaye told Mia: "Looking at the two of you, Mia I hope I'm all right saying this, you really are the spitting image of your mum," as other fans agreed with her, calling Mia and Sammy "dead ringers".

Sammy had daughter Mia with her footballer ex David Dunn when she was just 19, and the pair were quickly told that they look more like sisters than mum and daughter.

A proud Sammy also shared with the panel that daughter Mia is now pursuing her own acting dream.

The panel then asked Mia about following in her mother's footsteps and pursuing an acting career.

"I’ve just got a new agent recently," Mia explained. "Mum has just said, 'Just be polite, be yourself, be respectful to people around you."

While Mia was definitely open to also working in soaps, she said that her ultimate dream was to appear in a film.

Janet asked Sammy if there was any way to return to a soap after being killed off.

"Well, interestingly enough, I was asked to come back as a ghost," revealed Sammy. "Even though I was killed off."

"I said No, not like in a huffy way, I just didn't really fancy it. I was envisaging myself in a white sheet with the eye holes cut out, you know.

"So yeah, I don't think there's any way I could come back unless I called them up and said 'I'll take you up on your offer of being a ghost.'" she laughed.

Janet replied: "I've thought of a way, you could have a long lost identically [sic] twin sister, who could possibly be also played by Mia.

"There must be a way to get your old job back, given all the convolutions and all the extraordinary things that have happened on a show like Emmerdale.

"I can't believe a ghost is your only option."

Sammy agreed, adding: "Saying that, it sounds almost ridiculous but we're talking about soap. It is possible, you know."

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV.
