In a rare insight into life behind closed doors, Angel Adoree has opened up about life with her husband Dick. The couple frequently shares a glimpse into their daily life through their Channel 4 programme but have opened up like never before.
He does love to be on time, which is probably the main cause of any little arguments we might have.
The husband and wife duo who appear on Escape To The Chateau together have been happily married for six years, with Angel being 18-years Dick’s junior.
Away from the cameras, the happy couple share daughter Dorothy, seven, and son Arthur, eight.
In a new interview, the couple have spoken candidly about life away from filming, which sees Dick, whose real name is Richard, return to his military roots.
Dick, 61, is a former army Captain, now a Lieutenant Colonel, having graduated from The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
Discussing their age difference, he said to wife Angel, 43: “When I went to Sandhurst in ’78 – what were you doing then, Angela? Oh, you were being born, the first thing you learn is the motto ‘serve to lead’.”
Discussing their relationship, Angel added: “And he does love to be on time, which is probably the main cause of any little arguments we might have.”
However, Dick went on to explain his reasoning, noting that it is due to his military background.
He told The Telegraph: “Let me explain if I was a colonel and I was 10 minutes late and there were 600 soldiers waiting for my command, that would be 100 man-hours wasted.”
Dick added: “As a consequence, I hate being late, so I am always chasing Angela to get out of the door so we get to school on time!”
Angel interjected: “He will say, ‘Hurry up, we’re late for school,’ and I’ll say, ‘Hang on, we’ve got five minutes yet and I’m still doing Dorothy’s hair!’
“And he’s like, ‘I told you to hurry up 10 minutes ago,’ it’s just bickering really.”
Dick recently revealed that despite sharing aspects of their life on TV, there are rooms in their stunning home that Angel hasn’t even been in.
While appearing as guests on This Morning, host Phillip Schofield asked: “Are there bits of that chateau or the surrounding buildings that you haven’t explored yet?”
“You know there’s actually quite a lot,” Angel confessed. “I think for us there was no rush to go and look at everything.
“We’ve got a number of things in the attic, we’ve got…”
Cutting her off, Dick pointed out: “There’s a room in the attic that Angela hasn’t been into yet.”
“I really haven’t, it’s quite high up,” Angel explained. “I didn’t know for a long time that it was actually there.
“We’ve got a number of rooms in our outbuildings as well and I’m romantic, there’s part of me that doesn’t really want to explore it all because in my mind there’s a bit of mystery that I haven’t discovered yet.”
“There might be a whole great chunk of treasure that will help fund it,” Phillip joked.
“Exactly,” Angel said and Dick explained: “To be fair, it’s all a bit grubby.”
