If you couldn’t get enough of the hugely addictive and multi-award-winning series Big Little Lies, it’s time to get ready and reserve your spot on the sofa for your next small screen drama fix.

Aussie author Liane Moriarty’s latest screen adaptation, Nine Perfect Strangers, sees an amazingly talented all-star cast, including Hollywood stars Nicole Kidman and Melissa McCarthy, bring to life an intriguing story set in an upscale health and wellness boutique resort called Tranquilllum House.

However, fans of the 2018 page turner book will know that it’s far from a restful and relaxing experience for the nine strangers who have signed up to the secluded 10-day retreat to change their paths and improve their lives by undergoing a total transformation.

In fact, as wellness director Masha (Kidman) starts to guide the unconnected group through the programme, things take a sinister turn and begin to unravel – not least for the show’s central character, writer Frances (McCarthy).

The novel’s creator Liane teased: “They’re hoping for weight loss and stress relief, mindfulness and meditation, but it ends up a rather different experience than what they imagined.”

And we can guarantee you’ll be glued to your screen for the entire eight episodes as you watch the addictive twists and turns play out.

Leading lady Nicole said she was drawn to the role of the unnervingly calm wellness guru, revealing that she knew she had to buy the rights to the TV series before she’d even finished reading the bestseller.

Nicole, who also starred in Liane’s work Big Little Lies, added: “I’m so proud of what we were able to pull together this past year, bringing Nine Perfect Strangers filming to Australia during the global Covid-19 pandemic.”

The show was filmed in Byron Bay, but Melissa and the rest of the cast had to spend two weeks in quarantine before shooting could even begin.

“You get put in a hotel room by the military and they said, ‘See ya in 15 days, don’t screw up.’ And you were like, ‘You got it!’” said Melissa. “It’s wild… You go a little wacko. [But it’s] all worth it.”
