Fern Britton’s new book Daughters Of Cornwall is selling like hot cakes and is currently number five in the Sunday Times bestseller list. The delighted author took to Twitter last night after being congratulated online by her publisher.

“We are so proud of @Fern_Britton and her extraordinary novel #DaughtersOfCornwall which is a Sunday Times No.5 bestseller!

“Congratulations Fern,” Harper Fiction tweeted.

“Congratulations @Fern_Britton! Who here has picked up #DaughtersofCornwall?” the publicity team later added.

“Aw shucks,” Fern tweeted as she re-shared the post with her 84,900 followers.

Many took to the comments section of her post to congratulate the former This Morning presenter.

“I’ve got a copy for me and one for my Mum too. We love your books!” one social media user wrote.

“Congratulations,” a second added, while a third said: “Such a great book.”

“Only number 5 – demand a recount!!” a fourth fan remarked.

“You should really thank @EamonnHolmes for his idea of doing your readings on Facebook.

“I had never read your books but when you started reading them on Facebook I was hooked. I have read so many of them now and love them,” the message continued.

Back in February, Fern shared the details of a conversation she’d had with current This Morning host Eamonn.

“I was having a chat with the lively @EamonnHolmes today and he suggested that I could perhaps read a chapter or do a night of one of my books on social media. By the fire with a cuppa.”

“‘Put your lippy on and do your hair. Get the kids to light you well’, he said,” she wrote online.

Reading her book on social media was obviously a hit with fans, as last week Fern’s latest release reached a huge milestone.

The 63-year-old writer informed her followers that it had sold over 10,000 copies in one week.

Sharing a picture of her book in front of the fire, she wrote: “By my fireside… an unbelievable 10,000 of you bought #DaughterofCornwall in the last 5 days.

“I owe you 10,000 [kisses] x1000 kisses. Thank you.”

The mum-of-four returned to social media last night to give an update.

“Just as I have finished hugging all these people, another 12,000 of you have gone and bought it!

“I do actually love you xxxxx,” she added.

Daughters of Cornwall is the ninth novel Fern has written since 2011.
