Good Morning Britain newsreader makes announcement about today's This Morning | The Sun

THIS Morning has been leading bulletins – with the show making an unusual appearance on Good Morning Britain.

The show's newsreader Sean Fletcher has been repeating to viewers that it will return today despite chaos engulfing the series.


He said, reading a statement from ITV: "This Morning is not under review and there are no plans for the show to be axed."

It comes after host Phillip Schofield admitted lying about his affair with a teenage worker on the show.

The explosive row has thrown the network into chaos as advertisers desert the flagship daytime show amid claims of a "toxic" culture.

GMB reiterated today that viewers should expect to see This Morning back on screens today.

Sean told viewers: "ITV has confirmed its daytime show This Morning will be on air today. It will be presented by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.

"In a statement ITV said This Morning is not under review and there are no plans for the show to be axed.

"It comes after presenter Phillip Schofield's resignation from the show on Friday after he admitted lying about a relationship with a younger colleague.

"Presenter Holly Willoughby will return to the programme after the half term holidays on Monday June 5."

Since Phillip confessed he lied about his affair with the teenager on Friday, senior executives have been locked in crisis talks in a desperate bid to limit the damage.

A source said: “There is a lot of speculation about This Morning’s future and some staff are ­concerned about their jobs."

This Morning confirmed over the weekend that today’s show would go ahead as planned, with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary standing in.

It said the programme’s future “is not under review and there’s no plans for the show to be axed”.
