Jeremy Vine was joined by Alastair Campbell and columnist Dawn Neesom on the Channel 5 show this morning as the trio discussed whether Tony Blair could assist the government with the coronavirus pandemic. However, when Jeremy opened up the debate to viewers, one caller made her feelings on the former Prime Minister clear as she blasted him as “irrelevant”.

Vine asked viewers to get in touch with their thoughts on the question: “Should Tony Blair be brought back to help the government deal with the coronavirus crisis?”
One caller, Julia, strongly disagreed and said: “What’s happened? Is he on furlough? Has he got nothing to do? He’s so irrelevant.”
Defending the former Prime Minister, Vine remarked: “He’s got nothing to prove, he could come back as a unifying figure.”
“It’s a leadership role with him,” the caller argued. “If he was skilled in health care or had industry knowledge I’d consider it but it sounds to me like he wants to be a hero.”
