Holly Willoughby opens up about menopause fears as she ‘prepares herself’

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield welcomed Lisa Snowdon and Dr Louise on This Morning to discuss menopause.

As Lisa, who has been open about her experience many times, detailed her journey, Holly confessed she had her own fears after the TV host hit 40.

Holly eagerly listened to what Lisa had to say as she said she wants to "prepare herself" for what is coming next.

Turning to Lisa, Holly said: "I think you were about 42 when you first started… so I'm sitting here like a sponge. This is my next phase of life, this is coming to me.

"I want to go into this without being fearful and I think the best way of doing that is to listen to other women, hear the stories, educate myself and learn.

"So I want to hear your story, and what your symptoms were then."

Lisa responded: "You just feel so lost. So low and you just don't know what's going on.

"I was really shocked. I had such a big lump in my throat. I didn't quite know what that meant, but I knew that it was a big change and that fertility perhaps was off, lots of things came into my mind at that moment.

"It was such a big wake-up call and I wish I had known because no I feel fantastic and I am on HRT. It's been an absolute game changer."

Lisa gave her insight into the struggles she has had to deal with previously, including her opening up about night sweats, anxiety, brain fog prior to going on medication.

She said that sometimes you "don't recognise yourself".

Dr Louise urged people to get in touch with a healthcare professional to share their symptoms in order to support women with menopause.
