Holly Willoughby says she’s keeping distance from Piers Morgan in cheeky jibe

Television presenter Holly Willoughby joked that the This Morning team put in extra social distancing measures in place on Monday as Piers Morgan visited the studio.

The 39-year-old blonde beauty was back on our screens to present the ITV daytime show alongside co-star Phillip Schofield.

Holly and Phillip teased what was coming up on the programme at the top of the show when the camera panned to Good Morning Britain's Piers.

The 55-year-old GMB star was sat on the famous blue sofa waiting for his chat with Holly and Phillip.

A confused Holly quickly pointed out that bosses had extended the sofa because Piers was in the studio.

Holly joked: "We'll definitely be keeping our distance. Look how big our sofa is today."

Joking about the extra-long sofa, Phillip added: "We are in Shepherd's Bush and Piers is in Hammersmith."

The banter between the stars continued throughout the interview as Piers promoted his new book, Wake Up.

As This Morning returned from an ad break, Holly failed to get her iPad to work to read our tweets from viewers.

Piers joked: "You just can't get the presenters these days.

"Do you want me to do it."

Holly laughed off his comment and Phillip took over to read out the Twitter messages.

Piers went on to talk about his new book and conversation quickly turned to his book war with Phillip.

Both presenters released their books on the same day and Phillip is just ahead of Piers in the best-sellers list.

Piers said: "I want to congratulate you on your book. You are currently number three and I'm at number six, but the season isn't over yet."

Phillip was taken aback by Piers' kind words and Holly pointed out that the outspoken star can be nice.

Piers hit back: "Don't tell anyone though. It ruins the brand."
