Hollyoaks spin-off series kicks off tonight
Hollyoaks are taking viewers back in time with a brand new series entitled Hollyoaks@25.
Following the success of Hollyoaks Favourites — which allowed for viewers to revisit classic episodes of the Channel 4 soap — Hollyoaks@25 will similarly showcase the most talked about storylines.
The spin-off series — which kicks off tonight — will take a trip back in time and deliver one must-watch week for every five years the soap has been on air.
The first era which will be showcased this week is, of course, the ’90s, and as a result, viewers will be able to revisit the soap’s first ever huge stunt from 1999.
Of course, that means we’ll also have the opportunity to revisit Chester’s very first villain also, in the form of Rob Hawthorne!
A young Tony, Lewis, Ruth and Lucy are in serious danger as they are being held captive in a huge water tank. How will they escape Rob’s evil plan of vengeance?
This first week of episodes will be presented by Nick Pickard — aka Tony Hutchinson — and Jennifer Metcalfe — aka Mercedes McQueen.
The Channel 4 soap was forced to shut down production amid the coronavirus pandemic back in March.
In an effort to ensure it remained on the air for as long as possible, episodes were subsequently rationed out — at three a week initially, before being cut to two.
The final pre-lockdown episode aired on July 20, meaning that the soap was forced to go off the air.
Hollyoaks@25 commences tonight, Monday 27 July at 7pm on E4.
