Hollyoaks star Ricky Whittle looks unrecognisable after leaving soap for LA

Actor Ricky Whittle has showed off his changed appearance since he was last seen on UK screens.

The star left Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks 12 years ago for Hollywood, where he went on to build an impressive career.

While part of the Hollyoaks cast, he played Calvin Valentine from 2006 to 2010.

The Oldham-born actor was recently spotted at the 61st Monte-carlo Television Festival in Monaco.

Since his Hollyoaks days, Ricky has dyed his dark hair platinum blonde on top, and now has a fuller beard.

At the event, he donned a blue waistcoat and matching shorts, paired with a white short-sleeved granddad shirt.

He wore a pair of box-fresh white trainers and accessorised with a brown leather watch and bracelets.

Before heading to tinsel town, Ricky took part in the 2009 series of Strictly Come Dancing.

He then made the move to LA, starring in the US remake of BBC drama, Mistresses, action series The 100 and fantasy show American Gods, starring opposite Ian McShane of Lovejoy fame.

He also has accrued several film credits to his name, including Netflix film Nappily Ever After, as well as 2013 romcom Austenland.

His life has changed greatly since he starred in the Cheshire-based soap, where he dated his co-star Carley Stenson, who played Steph Cunningham in the soap.

Since crossing the pond, Ricky has been linked to former Gossip Girl actress Jessica Szhor and Demi Moore's daughter Rumer Willis, although isn't thought to have had a serious relationship since Carley.

He also purchased property in the States, splashing out on a £1.2million LA property back in 2019.

The large house is said to boast three bedrooms and four bathrooms, a games room, a wet bar and a wine cellar.
