How to master the celeb trend of showing off your favourite feature
Get ready to flaunt your BBP! Forget hiding your ‘worst bit’, stylist explains why the celeb-approved approach of celebrating your Best Body Part is key to looking fabulous no matter what your age or dress size
- Identifying and dressing your best body part is key, according to a stylist
- Stars like Reese Witherspoon and Holly Willoughby always flaunt their favourite
- Stylist Miranda Holder reveals how to dress your ‘best bit’ for extra confidence
Whether it’s sagging bingo wings or a roly-poly tummy, ask any woman anywhere and the chances are she will know the ‘worst bit’ of her body; the one part she does all she can to hide when getting dressed for the day.
Far fewer can identify their BBP (Best Body Part), and those that can will likely cringe at the thought of ‘showing it off’.
Yet this is precisely what we should all do to ensure we look and feel our best in any ensemble, according to British stylist Miranda Holder, Founder of the Feel Good Fashion Coach.
She believes that, regardless of age, body type, or budget, finding your BBP and celebrating it with what you wear is the key to unlocking your style potential.
This is exactly what stars like Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Lopez and Holly Willoughby do time and time again. They identify their BBF, then make sure it shines at any high profile occasion.
Reese, for example, often flaunts her toned shoulders and upper body, while This Morning presenter Holly favours fit-and-flare dresses that flatter her toned pins. Jennifer Lopez often goes for all out glamour, with her famous derriere the star of any outfit.
Legs for days! Miranda Holder believes that, regardless of age, body type, or budget, finding your BBP and celebrating it with what you wear is the key to unlocking your style potential. Pictured, Holly Willoughby, 41, in one of her favoured mini dresses that show off her toned pins
Star of the show: Jennifer Lopez, 52, has so many great features that it must be difficult to choose which one to highlight, but her pert derriere is often the star of the show
Sleek and simple: Queen Letizia of Spain, 49, opts for a longer, sleeveless dress that reveals one of her best features: her toned arms, which can be too often overlooked
‘It’s simply about working with what mother nature gave us, identifying your best bits and flaunting them with panache, whilst guiding the eye away from any lumps and bumps you’d prefer to conceal,’ she said.
‘This is the basis of dressing with confidence and feeling great every day, so whether it’s feminine ankles, toned arms, or legs for days, it’s all about celebrating your unique gifts (and there will always be some) and stepping into your personal power through looking and feeling your best.’
This is true no matter if your 15 or 50, Miranda explains, and there is no such thing as something being ‘age appropriate’.
‘Gone are the days in which women are discouraged to wear a skirt of a certain length, a plunging neckline or even hair below the shoulders. Yes, I’ve heard this one a few times.
‘A great outfit has nothing to do with how many years you have enjoyed on this earth, instead the most important wardrobe hero in your personal collection will always be confidence. If you feel great, your energy will change for the better and the compliments will flood in.’
If the idea of raising your hemline or bringing that V-neck down an inch or two fills you with dread then remember the key is balance.
‘You may resemble an amazonian extra from Wonder Woman, but if you expose too much all in one go, your aesthetic will diminish from uptogether to undressed,’ Miranda explained.
‘Instead, follow the general rule of if you are revealing more flesh on one half of your body – say a mini skirt – keep the other half more covered – say a sweater or blazer over a tee – to keep it chic.’
Here, she shared her advice on how to dress different hero body parts…
Celebrity fans: Harry Styles, Zendaya, Kendall Jenner
Show it off! A-lister Zendaya regularly flaunts her toned midriff. Miranda advises trying crop tops or a take on the handkerchief trend (centre). Also pictured: Zendaya in a cropped shirt and maxi skirt at the Oscars (left) and a vibrant red two-piece at the CFDA Fashion Awards
Keeping things casual: Fellow Gen Z It Girls Bella Hadid (left) and Kendall Jenner (right). Miranda also suggests trying a blazer with just a bra underneath for a fresh cocktail look
If you have abs of steel then absolutely show them off. Having never quite been able to attain this myself, this is the holy grail of ‘body beautiful’ and absolutely worth highlighting while you have them.
Crop tops and low slung waists are the order of the day, a la Harry Styles.
Get playful by tapping into this seasons ‘bra under a nice suit’ trend which can take you from christenings to cocktails.
Sheer fabrics are also worth embracing, and can look gorgeous over an elevated bra for the evening, just remember to keep your legs mostly covered to keep the balance.
Let’s hear it for the boys! Harry Styles (left) flaunted his toned physique at a plunging sequin ensemble at Coachella. Right, Timothee Chalamet raised eyebrows on the Oscars red carpet
Cut out dresses and swimsuits will also look fabulous, as we regularly see on the super-gorgeous and toned Zendaya.
The hard to wear but on trend scarf tops adored by the sartorially irreverent Gen Z will also work on you, but pair them with something tailored, such as wide leg trousers to keep the look contemporary.
Celebrity fans: Queen Letizia of Spain, Gabrielle Union, Sharon Stone
Majestic! Queen Letizia of Spain favours sleeveless dresses that reveal her toned arms while carrying out summer engagements. The sleek cuts stops it from looking too ‘holiday’
Power play: Miranda recommends stocking up on skimpy vest tops, camisoles, halter necks and strapless dresses if you like having your arms out like Gabrielle Union or Sharon Stone
Long, slender arms look feminine and graceful so get them out whenever you can!
For this reason, summer is your friend when you can indulge in skimpy vest tops, camisoles, halter necks and strapless dresses.
The Queen of power dressing, Queen Letizia of Spain who’s sculpted arms have become part of her style signature, regularly wears these elegant silhouettes which ooze sophistication.
For a stylish third piece consider investing in one of this season’s waistcoats to add texture and interest whilst keeping your assets on show.
Celebrity fans: Sofia Vergara, Salma Hayek, Serena Williams
Oh wow hourglass! Sofia Vergara (pictured) is a beautiful buxom example of someone who celebrates her curves, she looks breathtaking and always ensures her waist and hips are defined, alluding to the ‘ideal’ Marylin Monroe style hourglass figure, Miranda says
Attention grabbing: Take inspiration from Serena Williams (left) Salma Hayek and be as bold as you dare with plunging necklines – deep V necks in particular can look sensational
Congratulations on your feminine curves! Take inspiration from celebs such as Salma Hayek and be as bold as you dare with plunging necklines – deep V necks in particular can look sensational.
The right support is essential to ensure the breasts are front and centre, so don’t skimp on this.
Most women wear the wrong bra size, so perform regular ‘fit checks’ at home by trying them on under a close fitting white T shirt to see the line and check for bulges.
If you want to expose a bit of bra, do so (disparaging comments from others are likely to be a case of the green-eyed monster), but do remember to cover up more on your bottom half so that you don’t overdo it.

Celebrity fans: Kate Beckinsdale, Holly Willoughby, Halle Berry
Failsafe formula: Holly Willoughby often shows off her toned legs in flirty mini dresses
Raise the hemlines! If one of your best features is long legs then you really have free reign when it comes to choosing clothes to wear below the waist. Pictured, Kate Beckinsale (left) and Halle Berry (right) both have pins they enjoy showing off in mini skirts
If one of your best features is long legs then you really have free reign when it comes to choosing clothes to wear below the waist.
You can carry off maxi skirts whereas others can’t, but equally a micro-mini would be fabulous.
The hard to wear but ubiquitous super skinny jean was practically made for you (yes, I’m talking to you Kate Beckinsdale!), and leggings won’t sag no matter what their lycra count.
Holly Willoughby has a great pair of pins and is not at all afraid to get them out. The presenter always looks ravishing on This Morning and one of her trademarks has become the mini dress which usually boasts more fabric on the upper half, teamed with strappy sandals to flatter her ankles.
This fashion formula is failsafe for every long limbed lady – and never be afraid of breaking out the fake tan if you need a little bit more confidence, there are so many brilliant formulations around these days to add that extra sunkissed glow.
Celebrity fans: JLo, Kim Kardashian
Killer curves: Stylists used to advise clients on how to disguise an ample derriere, but thankfully the body positive tides have turned and we are now saluting all things big and bootylicious. Jennifer Lopez is one of the poster girls, as shown in these ensembles
Accentuating her assets: Try bodycon dresses in stretchy, figure hugging fabrics; long pencil skirts or even a fishtail to create an even more undulating line, like Kim Kardashian
Once frowned upon, a sizable bottom is these days coveted by women all over the world.

If you are wondering how to do this in style, look no further than J Lo and Kim Kardashion, who are both proud of their beautiful behinds.
Try bodycon dresses in stretchy, figure hugging fabrics; long, sensual pencil skirts or even a fishtail to create an even more undulating line.
Remember to always highlight that waist, which, if you have naturally larger hips will no doubt be tiny anyway and make you look even curvier.
Celebrity fans: Renee Zellweger, Beyoncé, Reese Witherspoon
Elegant: Flaunt your bone structure and delicate décolletage by opting for boat or slash necks that will accentuate those lines or channel your inner Renee Zellweger and dazzle in a striking one shoulder number. Above, the actress at the Oscars (left) and the Brits in 2020
Classic cuts: Reese Witherspoon also favours showing off her shoulders on the red carpet
Versatile: Whether she’s on the red carpet (left) or posing in athleisurewear (right), Beyoncé proves that sometimes nothing can beat giving a glimpse of the shoulders
If shapely shoulders are your thing, your clothes will drape beautifully, as shown by so many of the gazelle-like, broad-shouldered supermodels who grace our runways.

Halter neck and bardot tops will also work wonders, and if you really want to push the boat out, pile your hair high, add statement earrings and a little shimmer highlighter to the bony bits.
