This year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing is over and out as Rose Ayling-Ellis and her professional partner Giovanni Pernice were crowned the winners and walked away with the renowned Glitterball trophy. Viewers and fellow dancers were over the moon for the pair, as injured AJ Odudu took to her social media to share a special congratulations with the couple.
There’s nothing that can’t be achieved
After sustaining an injury to her ankle, the presenter was forced to quit the BBC One show.
With her untimely exit from the competition, Rose and Giovanni were only up against the show’s first all-male pairing, John Whaite and Johannes Radebe.
A fan favourite to win, it came as a huge blow for AJ as she begged doctors to let her perform in a medical boot.
But even though the injury took away her chances of lifting the coverted trophy this time, she didn’t let it pander her spirits.

Taking to Instagram, she penned a touching message to Rose and Giovanni alongside two snaps of them on the first ever show and then the last, where AJ fashionably sported some glittery crutches.
“Aww me and you @rose.a.e from start to finish.
“What champs you & @pernicegiovann1 truly are.”
With Rose being the first ever deaf contestant to participate in the show, AJ added: “Congratulations, not just for all that you brought to the dancefloor but for showing everyone, there’s nothing that can’t be achieved.”
It comes after Rose posted a lengthy tribute to her dance partner, after the pair were crowned the winners of Strictly 2021.
Taking to her own Instagram account, the actress began: “I’m dedicating this post to the most wonderful human ever, Giovanni.
“The person who was there everyday with me for four months, who knows truly what this journey has been for me, the reason why I have become confident within myself.
“He came into my world and brought the best out of me.
“I cannot thank him enough for all the work and effort to make me become the dancer that I am today.”
She continued: “Winning the Glitterball is the best gift I could ever give to Giovanni because he really deserves it. I am beyond proud of us.
“I never thought I would leave Strictly with a best friend for life, thank you Gio.”
She shared a series of three blurry backstage photos alongside the caption, in the aftermath of their big win on Saturday night.
Runner up John, was also quick to speak out following the final.
Sharing a selfie with Rose on the picture-sharing site, he said: “I’m so proud to have been even up there with this girl.
“I’m sure you’ll agree she’s a remarkable human being, a barrier breaker, and a very worthy winner.”
He added: “Congratulations @rose.a.e and @pernicegiovann1.”
