In 2010, Hannah seemingly out of the blue, told her husband that she had been unfaithful and wanted a divorce.

Hannah has since got engaged to actor Huw Higginson who she had met on the cast of a touring theatre show, and the couple are parents to one son.

Hannah, the daughter of Minder actor Dennis Waterman, lost a huge amount of weight shortly before the split, and at the time this was believed to be solely intentional.

At the time, Ricky blamed Hannah’s "body obsession" as a reason she ended their marriage.

However, she was actually battling an underlying health condition that it would be years before even she herself would know about.

"‘I was eating tons, and I wasn’t overdoing the exercise – I was training only three times a week. But I just kept losing weight. And if I looked exhausted, well, I was. But I just put it down to stress," she's since explained.

In fact, Hannah was suffering side effects of undiagnosed type 1 diabetes which was finally identified when she was 24 weeks pregnant.

"I wish I had known it at the time – I could have told the world, “Back off – I’m ill” " she has since said about her diagnosis.

The cause is unknown, but type 1 diabetes can be managed by injecting insulin to stabilize blood glucose levels.

Hannah has said she feels "lucky" to be able to live comfortably with the condition.

“I feel very positive. I know so many people with far worse to deal with, and I consider myself lucky,” she's said previously.

Ricky Groves has since said that Hannah won’t accept his phone calls or discuss their divorce.

“I can’t understand it. After all, it was her idea to end our marriage.

"Every time I’ve rung her, the phone has been on, but she’s not answered. I’ve left messages, sent texts but got no reply.

“You would have thought she would be keen to get a divorce, especially now she’s had a baby,” he told The Sun.

He adds: “It’s sad because we were together for ten years. Recently I texted her that our dog Ernie, who I was looking after, had died. I didn’t even get a response to that.”

Hannah now works as a stage actress and lives in Sydney, Australia, with her fiancee and son.

Hannah most recently took to the stage in the Melbourne production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
