Inside Neighbours’ Ben Turland’s life – AGT stint, rival soap and co-star pals

Ben Turland has made a big splash since he was cast as Hendrix Greyson in Neighbours.

The 23-year-old actor joined the Aussie soap in 2019, playing the bad boy son of business tycoon Pierce.

He rocked up in Erinsborough having just been booted out of boarding school, and since then the character has been involved in his share of juicy storylines.

But while fans of the show are well versed in Hendrix' antics on Ramsay Street, less is known about the actor who plays him.

So we have a look at Ben's life before Neighbours and what he gets up to when he's off screen.

Ben is a dancer too

The actor also has a serious dance pedigree.

Ben, who grew up in Mittagong in New South Wales, has been dancing for many years and in 2012 he and his dance group appeared on the show Young Talent Time.

He went on to land several dance jobs, and not long afterwards he showed off his moves on Australia's Got Talent.

The star auditioned for the programme in 2014 and made it all the way to the semi-finals.

He told Radio Times in 2020 that he had a "huge kind of a realisation" while he was competing on the show.

"I realised that even if you work your hardest, maybe it's where not where you're meant to be," he said.

"So it was after that I started really pursuing acting because I thought maybe you're not going to go down the path you think you're going to go down.

"But that was a lot of fun. I wasn't going to school much, I was dancing 3-4 days a week, full time."

Ben did a stint in Home And Away

Neighbours wasn't Ben's first journey into soapland, as he previously appeared in fellow Australian serial Home And Away.

The actor starred in the programme in 2016 in what was one of his significant first screen roles.

He played the character Jordan Walsh, who was a foster child of John and Marilyn Chambers.

Ben featured in the soap for several episodes.

Adventurous snaps

The star evidently likes to get back to nature and let off steam during his time off.

He has shared several snaps on Instagram showing him by the sea, exploring caves or rock climbing.

Fans were blown away by one recent shot that showed the star taking a refreshing dip at the bottom of a stunning waterfall.

"Now that is an adventure," one person posted in the comments section, while another said he looked "incredible".

"Oi Hollywood, if you're looking for a new Tarzan look at these pics…" quipped another of his followers.

Nights out with friends

Ben also gives his social media followers the odd peek at nights out and holidays with friends when he isn't working.

Last year he posted some pictures of him soaking up the sun during a trip with three pals.

Shots showed the group clutching drinks as they posed by the sea and all dressed up for a spot of nightlife.

The actor's fans were thrilled to get a glimpse of his down time.

"Legends right here!" one wrote in the comments section, while another said Ben looked "hot".

Star is close to Neighbours cast

Ben has become close to several people he has met while he's been on Neighbours.

He and actor Tim Robards – who used to play his character's dad Pierce – are thought to be good friends and Tim has popped up on Ben's grid a few times.

Tim said in a message on social media in 2019 that he was thankful to the soap for "giving me a son".
