Jenny Powell, 54, poses in bikini as she jets off to recharge after tough year
TV presenter Jenny Powell has shared a series of eye-catching photos on Instagram as she ‘recharges’ in Turkey after a difficult year.
The 54 year old, who shot to fame as an assistant on Wheel of Fortune back in the early 90s, wowed fans as she posed in a chic black bikini while on holiday on the country’s sun soaked Silence beach.
In a caption accompanying the photos, Jenny opened up about the tough year she had experienced, which tragically included the loss of her father and being diagnosed with debilitating menopause symptoms.
Stretching up towards the sky in one photo, Jenny encouraged her followers to “ embrace, look up, soak up, take that feeling with you.”
She then followed up with a heartfelt glimpse into what she’s experienced in the past year. “'Lots gone on in this past year, Dad passed away, my menopause hit hard and that was just in my world,” wrote the star.
“Dad’s passing has made me look up a lot more ( mainly talking to him !!) Also I’ve learnt to avoid the ‘noise’ that hormones and grief can bring.”
“This beach is called Silent Beach .. think we should all have a place at home to be silent .. it’s nourishing and recharges you and gives you time to reflect and manage your thoughts that sometimes lead you astray think my silent place will be in the wardrobe ( not many options tbh! ) Where’s yours?”
Jenny’s father Leslie sadly passed away in July 2021 at the age of 93 – a loss which hit the presenter hard.

Posting a tribute to her late father at the time, she said "'The most beautiful soul and father to me Leslie Michael Powell passed away yesterday and the sunshine has been with me and the family all day long today.”
“'He has been a light, a warmth and part of our souls that will never be forgotten and he will live on in every smile, every burst of laughter and every person who he has known .. because everyone who met Les was always enchanted by his complete and utter gentlemanly ways .. he was a true and most brilliantly bright star.
“My mother had been with him for almost 70 years and they loved each other to the core.
"We will look after her Les, and your grandchildren are so very honoured to have known you and loved you as much as you loved them .. this family man is an example to us all .. love your family like nothing else and Dad I will miss you every single day, every single hour .. I Love you RIP.”
Despite the loss however, there have been some positives in Jenny’s life, with the TV icon recently revealing her daughter Connie, 21 had finally finished her degree after three “hard” years of studying throughout the pandemic.
Celebrating the news on Instagram last week, Jenny shared a sweet snap of herself and daughter Connie, along with the caption: “So my eldest daughter finished her 3 year degree course at Uni today and now we wait…
“'But for me the results are in already, she worked damn hard, played hard, survived the past 2 crazy years of this crazy world turning upside down including the passing of her soul mate and grandfather Leslie Powell and has become the most gracious and special human being who I know her Grandad would have been so very proud of R E S U L T well done Connie.
“I’m so excited for your adventures ahead”
Fans were also quick to celebrate the accomplishment, with many flooding Jenny’s post with messages of congratulations and encouragement. Several others were also shocked at how much alike the pair looked, with some even thinking they resembled sisters.
One follower wrote: “Absolute stunner! Like her mother, many congrats beautiful lady”
Another added: “Beautiful. Its like looking at sisters, well done to your beautiful daughter it's not easy plus going through COVID for two years"
It isn’t the first time the pair have been mistaken for sisters either. Speaking to The Sun last year, Jenny revealed that it was a frequent occurrence.
“I do get called Benjamin Button — every year I get a bit younger,” she told the newspaper.
“Being called your daughter's sister is very flattering. We once checked into a hotel on holiday and the guy behind the reception desk said, "Oh, look at you two sisters. You look so alike”.
“Connie said, "She's my mum". I think she loves it but hates it as well. When she was in the sixth form it was going round the boys that "Jenny Powell is a hot mum”.”
The household name has been a staple of our screens for over 35 years, shooting to fame as the assistant on Wheel of Fortune in the nineties.
She also presented several Saturday morning kids' TV shows, which included fronting shows such as UP2U for BBC1 and ITV's Gimme 5.
More recently eagle eyed viewers will have spotted her reality TV appearances, including 2019's Celebs On The Ranch and radio broadcasting, where she is currently presenting the Weekend Breakfast Show on Greatest Hits Radio.
