Katie Price admits 'I can breathe for the first time' as Harvey being away at college is 'a weight off her shoulders'

KATIE Price admits 'I can breathe for the first time' after son Harvey going away to college lifted 'a weight off her shoulders'.

The 43-year-old former glamour model's eldest son has a range of medical conditions including Prader-Willi Syndrome, autism and being blind.

The 18-year-old lived with his mum and siblings until August this year, when he moved to a residential college in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

In her new book, Harvey and Me, Katie admits feeling guilt over Harvey living so far away from her, but also her relief at knowing he will be safe 24/7.

In an extract released to the Mirror, Katie said: "It’s so far from my home in Horsham, West Sussex. But I’ve got to let him have the best shot at life.

"Now he’s there, I can imagine it could be so easy to say, ‘I don’t need to see him’. But I don’t want that to ever happen.

"I’ve been responsible for him all his life, and now it feels weird to have this freedom."

Katie has four other children to care for; son Junior, 16, daughter Princess, 14, son Jett, eight and youngest child, daughter Bunny, seven.

Having Harvey staying at the residential college means she has time to focus on her own well-being as well as those of her other children.

She said: "If something dramatic happens in my life, and let’s be honest, that’s a common occurrence, at least I don’t have to be thinking, ‘Who’s going to look after Harvey?’

"It’s a massive weight off my shoulders.I feel like now, for the first time, I can breathe.

"And even though I do, I shouldn’t feel guilty for that."

Meanwhile, Katie's daughter Princess also opens up in the book after Harvey and her relationship with him.
