Love Island’s Hugo and Chuggs’ tried to date same girl’ during university days

Love Island stars Hugo Hammond and Chuggs Wallis have reportedly competed for a girl's affection before their stint on the ITV2 dating show.

The two Islanders admitted that they did already know each other during Thursday's episode.

Hugo had suggested that he already knew the new arrival to the villa when Sharon Gaffka read out a text regarding his arrival with fellow newcomer Liam Reardon.

The two men swapped pleasantries when they saw each other in the villa, although a source has claimed that Hugo could be disappointed with the new arrival as it could bring fears of "history repeating itself".

Speaking to The Sun, the insider said: "Hugo and Chuggs knew each other through sport at uni – I think they were both interested in the same girl and went head to head on trying to date her.

"That's why Hugo was so nervous in the villa – it's like history repeating itself!"

Both of the "love rivals" had attended Oxford Brooks university before they joined the Love Island cast this year.

It wasn't smooth sailing for Chuggs, whose real name is Oliver, as he wasn't an instant hit with the women of the villa when he arrived.

Chuggs had decided to go on a date with Sharon, which despite seeming to go well didn't have him coupled up with her on Friday's re-coupling when she chose Aaron Francis as her new partner.

The other newcomer, Liam, found himself coupled up with Faye Winter after the two had a talkative date which left Hugo single.

It wasn't a complete disaster, with Chloe Burrows keeping Hugo safe as she coupled up with him, leaving just Chuggs and Brad uncoupled up at the villa.

Rachel Finni joined the villa, wearing a stunning orange two-piece, and in a last minute announcement it was said that the two boys had just 24 hours to impress her in order to stay in the villa.

Model Shannon Singh was the first contestant to get the boot in a brutal dumping on Wednesday evening.

After just 48 hours in the villa, the 22-year-old model was forced to leave the island after bombshell Chloe Burrows decided to couple up with Shannon's partner Aaron Francis.
