Megan McCubbin: Chris Packham’s stepdaughter hides pre-Winterwatch error ‘Don’t tell him!’
Winterwatch: Megan McCubbin on ‘hardest part’ of filming
Megan McCubbin, 25, has admitted she “missed a bit” while helping her stepdad Chris Packham prepare ahead of their first appearance on Winterwatch 2021 by giving him a DIY haircut. The zoologist suffered the blunder during the third national lockdown in England, which has prompted hairdressers and barbers to close once again due to coronavirus regulations.
Megan made her admission after Chris took to Instagram to share a snap of his hair transformation in view of his 50,000 followers earlier this week.
Megan could be seen looking cosy in a black jumper and matching wooly hat, while poised with her scissors at the ready behind her stepdad.
Chris smiled for the camera in the photo, as strands of his hair covered his shoulders.
The presenter captioned the post: “So #Winterwatch starts tonight at 8pm on BBC Two and thus @megan_mccubbinphoto and I are preparing . . .

“I’m forsaking my Eraserhead hairstyle for something else . . . probably equally fitting for a Lynch classic,” he added about his new look.
However, Megan then took to the comments section of Chris’ photo to admit she had made an error while trimming his barnet.
She wrote: “Don’t tell him I missed a bit…”
Fans then commented on Megan’s revelation and offered some advice about how she could avoid getting into trouble with her stepdad.
One person penned: “@megan_mccubbinphoto just tell him to keep facing the camera.”
Another asked: “@megan_mccubbinphoto I take it you’re not letting Chris near your hair???”
A third Instagram user said: “If you’re sporting a bobble hat later, we’ll know it went well.”
“Can’t wait to see the result,” a fourth fan commented.

A fifth person quipped: “What trust..so brave…of Megan!”
Meanwhile, Megan opened up on what it’s like to live with Chris during lockdown at his home in the New Forest.
The wildlife expert, who is the daughter of Jo – Chris’ ex partner for over a decade, said: “I spent lockdown in the New Forest with Chris, walking the poodles twice a day.
“We’re both just as we are on TV! We try to find the weirdest scientific papers to share with each other around the dinner table.
“The only downside of living together is that he’s a rubbish cook, but I don’t like washing up and he does, so it evens out.”
She also shared an insight into what it’s like working with her stepdad.
She told Country Living: “I never imagined I’d do much presenting, but I really enjoyed it.
“I was nervous at first, but Chris is the best person in the industry to learn from. We’ve always got on really well. We understand each other, so we’ve been able to push each other.
“He’s pushed me to be a little more outrageous and I’ve been able to pull him back and say, ‘Let’s think about this.’ We’ve also got a similar sense of humour.”
Winterwatch airs tonight at 8pm on BBC Two.
