Filming for the fifth and final season of the popular Netflix series has been underway in Madrid since last August. With just ten episodes of Money Heist left to go, the series’ latest Instagram post has brought fans one step closer to the highly anticipated conclusion.

A new photo of the cast of Money Heist has been released to celebrate production for the series finally coming to an end.

Netflix confirmed last year that the show’s fourth season would be followed by one more instalment to bring The Professor (played by Álvaro Morte) and his team’s story to a close.

Production began last August following some COVID delays, and the stars have recently been confirming their time on the series has come to an end.

Now the last of the cast have departed, the series has officially announced a final wrap on Money Heist season five.

The Spanish hit’s official Instagram page confirmed the news with a touching tribute to the La Casa de Papel family.

They posted: “What started as a heist, ended as a family. It’s a wrap on Part 5.

“Thank you to all the fans for being part of La Resistencia, we can’t wait to show you how this story ends.”

Pictured in the new image were the show’s breakout stars, including Morte, Úrsula Corberó, Jaime Lorente and Miguel Herrán.

Fans were also quick to spot Pedro Alonso’s Berlin in the new snap wearing the signature red jumpsuit, despite being killed at the end of season two.

However, others quickly pointed out that the image is simply a promotional shot for the new season, and Alonso also wore jumpsuits in similar material for seasons three and four.

Additionally, more followers took to the comments to build hype for Money Heist’s upcoming return.

One excited viewer exclaimed: “Ahhhhhhh! And we can’t wait to finally see it!!!”

And another added: “I really love them all. I’m so excited about season 5. Hope there will be a trailer coming soon.”

Now the footage for the season has finally been completed, it’s hoped the first details of Money Heist’s final instalment will be revealed soon.

Season four left the series with some huge cliffhangers, including the devastating killing of Nairobi (Alba Flores).

Meanwhile, the criminal mastermind known as The Professor was held at gunpoint by ex-inspector Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri) moments before the credits rolled.

Currently, it’s still unknown when exactly the new episodes will be released on Netflix.

The streaming service have thankfully ordered an extended instalment of ten episodes to bring the epic crime series to a satisfying conclusion.

Although this has meant filming for season five has taken slightly longer than usual, comments from showrunner Álex Pina have assured fans they won’t have to wait too long for Money Heist’s return.

Netflix have also promised subscribers the finale will be unveiled before the end of the year, with current speculation leaning towards a September release.

Money Heist seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Netflix.
