Naya Rivera’s ex Ryan Dorsey files wrongful death suit on behalf of son

Naya Rivera’s ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey, has filed a wrongful death suit on behalf of their young son, Josey, in the wake of the actress’ tragic passing.

Ventura County, Calif., where the former “Glee” star accidentally drowned at age 33 in July, United Water Conservation District and the county’s Parks and Recreation Management are being sued for wrongful death and negligent infliction of emotional distress, Us Weekly reported.

Dorsey and Rivera’s estate filed the paperwork on Tuesday, Nov. 17.

Ventura County spokeswoman Ashley Bautista told Page Six on Wednesday she couldn’t comment because the county hasn’t been served the lawsuit.

A rep for United Water Conservation District didn’t immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

The family’s complaint alleges that Rivera’s death was preventable and that the boat Rivera and her 5-year-old son rented to sail around Lake Piru didn’t comply with Coast Guard safety standards. The documents, obtained by Us Weekly, claim the vessel didn’t have flotation devices, which are required by California law.

The documents also cite Lake Piru’s deadly history and claim there wasn’t “a single sign anywhere” warning of the lake’s dangerous currents.

Dorsey and Rivera were married from 2014 to 2018.
