Gorka Marquez, 31, and his celebrity partner Katie McGlynn, 28, were locked in an “intense” dance battle for permanence on Strictly Come Dancing after yesterday’s performance. Sunday’s eliminations saw the pair’s opponents, actress Nina Wadia and pro dancer Neil Jones, leave the show.

Gorka opened up about being at the bottom of the leaderboard in a new Instagram post shared on Sunday.

He shared two photographs of him and Katie in Saturday’s outfits.

In a candid text, the pro admitted that having to compete for permanence was “not the best feeling”.

Gorka wrote: “Well… that was intense.

She thanked voters for their support and promised to “be back bigger and better” next week.
