Old Emmerdale Sarah Sugdens now – glam new look, Corrie hopes and famous family

Emmerdale star Katie Hill has endeared the whole nation to her character Sarah Sugden, as she battles anxiety due to news about her heart donor.

The sickly teen has had her fair share of issues in the Dales, only exacerbated by mum Debbie fleeing to Scotland and leaving her alone again.

Debbie Dingle was just 15 years old when she fell pregnant with Sarah, with boyfriend Andy Sugden.

But Katie is actually the fifth actress to play Sarah in the soap.

Fans will likely remember her first appearance in the Dales in 2017, when she took over the role from Sophia Amber Moore.

Prior to that, Sarah had also been played by Lily-May Bartley, Lucy Warren and Amber Child-Cavill.

But where have the previous Sarahs ended up now?

Sophia Amber Moore

Sophia took up the role of Sarah from 2007 until 2016, leaving the soap due to being re-cast as Debbie returned to Yorkshire from France.

Before being cast as Sarah, Sophia also appeared in Heartbeat and The Royal.

A spokesperson for the show said at the time: "Due to the nature of the storyline, the character of Sarah Sugden has been recast for an older actress.

"The role will now be played by Katie Hill," they told Metro.

Since leaving the show, Sophia has undergone an incredibly glamorous transformation, and lets fans have a glimpse into her life on Instagram.

In one snap, the star can be seen with sleek blonde locks falling past her shoulders while wearing a brown lined polo-neck jumper and a silver necklace.

Sophia opted for a natural makeup look with long lashes for the low-key selfie, which repeated several sections of her head as she labelled it: "Weird filter lol x."

In another pic, she can be seen in a lift with a friend, posing for a mirror selfie while wearing an oversized black rain-jacket, jeans and a white t-shirt, clutching a chic black handbag.

Sophia simply captioned the snap with three black love-heart emojis.

According to news outlet ED!, Sophia now allegedly has her sights set on another soap entirely – Coronation Street.

She reportedly told the publication that since leaving the show: "I’ve been focusing on my school life and A-levels until I can find a suitable casting agency I like that can find me work."

And she added that she would "love to go to Coronation Street".

She wouldn’t be the first in the family to head for the cobbles, as her sister Imogen briefly starred in Corrie as newborn baby Liam Connor Jr.

Sophia added that "from an early age" she knew she wanted to be an actress, explaining: "I always enjoyed my scripts being posted to my house and sitting down with my mum arranging them into what scenes I was in and what I needed to learn.

"I knew everything on set wasn’t real life, but I needed to pretend that it was so my character was portrayed the best I could."

Amber Child-Cavill

Amber was the third child actor to take the role of Sarah, and starred in the Dales from 2006 until 2007.

She isn’t the first in the family to turn to acting, as her sister Jessica and brother Samuel both appeared in ITV drama Where the Heart Is.

In 2014, it seemed Amber had taken to the stage, as she was cast in the Constance Grant Dance Centre’s pantomime production of Aladdin at The Rotherham Civic.

The centre posted on Facebook: "Congratulations to Amber Child-Cavill for successfully auditioning to be a part of this year’s pantomime, Aladdin, at the Rotherham Civic, from 3rd December to 11 January. Good luck Amber!"

And Amber has undergone a transformation of her own, dyeing her hair a vibrant pink and piercing her septum.

Lucy Warren & Lily-May Bartley

Little is known about the first two actresses to play Sarah Sugden.

The role was initially shared between Lily-May Bartley and Lucy Warren, before Lucy became the sole portrayer of baby Sarah in 2005.

She departed from the screen in December 2005, returning in October 2006 played by Amber Child-Cavill.

Emmerdale continues tonight at 7pm on ITV.
