The telly favourite, famed for his alter-ego Lily Savage and working on Radio 2 and ITV’s For The Love of Dogs, died “unexpectedly but peacefully” on March 28.
The news was confirmed by his husband Andre Portasio who stated that Paul had died at the age of 67.
Andre wrote last month: “It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.
“We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss.
“He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion.
“I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years.”
Paul was a beloved TV star and something he was famously known for was his love and passion for pooches.
While he worked with Battersea shelter for his TV show, at his own home he had a large brood of dogs too – and many more.
Paul was the proud owner of five dogs when he passed, alongside chickens, sheep, pigs, alpacas and goats.
His pal and colleague Malcolm Prince revealed that on his final day Paul was “laughing and smiling” and was “surrounded by his beloved dogs”.
Malcolm said of Paul at the time: “We have lost a unique talent – and I've lost a dear friend. We were all lucky to have Paul in our lives. My heart goes out to Andre, Paul's family, and friends.
"Oh how I'll miss him.”
Paul found fame in the ‘90s with his drag queen persona Lily Savage and later appeared on popular shows including For The Love of Dogs and Blankety Blank.
