A brand new trailer released on YouTube has finally confirmed the return of Power’s first spin-off after the midseason finale. When Book II finally continues on Starz, Tariq St. Patrick is feeling pressure building up on all sides and scheming lawyer Cooper Saxe could finally take him down.

Fans were disappointed when Power Book II: Ghost came to an abrupt end after just five episodes at the start of October.

Episode five, The Gift of the Magi, left the series on a major cliffhanger with no indication for when the subsequent instalments would be released.

Thankfully, a brand new trailer released by Starz has finally confirmed the series will continue on Sunday, December 6.

The midseason premiere, Good vs. Evil will pick up where the last episode left off as Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson) and Davis Maclean (Method Man) formulated their plan to take down Tariq.

As the spin-off continued from the jaw-dropping finale of Power’s flagship final season, Tariq’s mother Tasha (Naturi Naughton) was nailed for the murder of her husband, James ‘Ghost’ St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick).

However, the finale eventually revealed it was Tariq himself who pulled the trigger, and managed to get away scot free when his mother took the wrap for his crime.

Now, the St. Patrick heir is juggling his new college life whilst following in his father’s footsteps with a precarious business deal with ruthless queen pin Monet Tejada (Mary J. Blige).

As Tariq’s business ventures skyrocket, behind the scenes a plan is forming between Saxe and Maclean to put Ghost’s son behind bars.

The follow-up series was recently renewed for a second season, so who knows if Tariq will actually end up doing time for killing his father.

In the meantime, the new trailer has given fans a taste of the action as Saxe starts to unveil his plan of action.

Viewers were baffled by Tariq’s drunken confession in the last episode, which could eventually have dire consequences on his future.

Teaming up with his reckless niece, Riley (Andrea Lee Christensen), the devious Saxe duo managed to get Tariq intoxicated enough to openly spill his secrets.

As he rambled a tearful confession to his sister, Raina (Donshea Hopkins) and father’s headstones, Saxe watches on after Riley activated the location tracker on his phone.

The cunning lawyer managed to record footage of Tariq’s admission of guilt as he secretly listened in from the sidelines.

His highly incriminating video could prove to be crucial evidence to release Tasha and land Tariq a lifetime in prison when the second half of season one continues.

However, as the video was obtained by illegal means, will Saxe risk his whole career to take his revenge on the St. Patricks?

Episodes were delayed following the outbreak of coronavirus, but fans should be relieved the series should return to a more regular schedule for the release of Book II’s second season.

Additionally, the first season of Book III: Raising Kanan was also confirmed to have started production.

With Books IV and V also still to come, the unexpected hiatus should prove well worth the wait as the world of Power is set to continue well into the future.

Power Book II: Ghost season 1 returns Sunday, December 6 on Starz and Starzplay.
