Married At First Sight Australia season eight has already aired Down Under but British fans are getting to see all the drama unravel from Monday night on Channel 4’s sister network, E4. Following the same format as previous seasons, couples are put through a whole plethora of compatibility tests to see if their love can go the distance. Rebecca and Jake were two contestants who took part in this year’s edition and here is everything you need to know about whether they are still together.
Are Married At First Sight Australia couple Rebecca and Jake still together?
From the off-set, it was a tricky set-up for Rebecca and Jake when they both had different ideas about each other on their wedding day.
Whereas Jake was besotted by the woman who was walking down the aisle to meet him, Rebecca did not like what she saw.
The bride was disgruntled to see her husband was not wearing a tie for their big day as well as being aghast over his tattoos being visible.
As the series continued, she made comments about his bad qualities, telling the cameras: “He’s looking at me like I am sex on a stick.”
Though there were hints a few days after they tied the knot things weren’t looking good for the pair as they were both unwilling to move from their hometowns.
However, it wasn’t until the very last episode of season eight things ended for good between the couple as a bombshell was dropped.
Some video footage emerged during the time Rebecca took out from the show to return home to care for her sick dog.
During her short stint away from proceedings, she was caught kissing a mystery man who turned out to be one of her ex-boyfriends.
Initially, the bride said it was her brother she was kissing but she felt she needed to tell the truth before the experiment ended.
I would say it’s cheating
Explaining what was going through her head at the time, Rebecca said: “When I went home, I desperately needed help with Oscar [the dog] getting him to appointments and things.
“So I reached out to an old friend, someone that I guess there has been chemistry [with] before, nothing serious or anything like that.
“Feelings definitely don’t swing both ways. However obviously emotions were high, I hadn’t been home in months.
“We shared kind of like an exciting kiss when we initially saw each other and that was it,” she explained to 9Entertainment.
Rebecca added: “Looking back at it I can see how one hundred per cent it was a betrayal of trust. I one hundred per cent would say it’s cheating.”
Where are Married At First Sight Australia’s Rebecca and Jake now?
Since leaving the social experiment, Rebecca has been dating her boyfriend Ben Mitchell and the two made their first public appearance together earlier this year.
The 28-year-old reality show contestant attended The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It premiere with Ben in Perth.
She has also had to say goodbye to her beloved dog Oscar as the canine passed away in August and she shared the news on her social media pages.
Taking to Instagram, she wrote: “It hurts me that you were suddenly taken away. Oscar, you were in my world. You entered my life when I needed you most and were there for me on my darkest day.
“It hurts more than I imagined when I think I have to continue my life without being by your side now.”
Jake enjoyed a relationship with fitness influencer Sophie Guidolin shortly after filming ended on Married At First Sight Australia.
Following his split from Sophie, the reality show contestant checked in to a wellness retreat and has felt much better since returning home.
He wrote in a candid Instagram post: “At this very moment I am the happiest I have ever been. I’m the best version of myself.
“And I am so proud of the soul searching and confronting work I have done on myself to feel content, happy, grounded and at peace.”
Married At First Sight Australia begins tonight at 7:30pm on E4.
