Richard Madeley has confirmed it would be his last appearance on Good Morning Britain for a while.

The 65-year-old announced he would not be returning until after Christmas as he denies rumours he'll be taking over from Piers Morgan permanently.

Susanna Reid and Richard were signing off from Wednesday's show when Richard landed the bombshell comment that he wouldn't at the helm for some time.

Speaking to his co-star he explained that he would be venturing off to sample food on a mysterious trip – believed to be for I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

He said: "And this will be my last show for a while. I won't be back now until after Christmas."
