Rick and Morty’s fifth season has seen the pair embark on even more wild adventures across space with Rick (voiced by Justin Roiland) putting his grandson (also voiced by Roiland) in danger once more. From crashing into the sea and fighting Mr Nimnbus (Dan Harmon) to fighting off alien squid assassins, Rick and Morty have already had their fair share of drama. When can fans watch episode 5?

When is season 5 episode 5 out?

As usual, Rick and Morty fans will have to wait a week for the next episode of the series.

Fans will be able to watch episode five or season five on July 18 at 11pm EST or 10pm CST/11pm PST on Adult Swim.

Viewers in the UK will be able to watch the next episode on Monday 19 July on E4 at 10pm.

The fifth instalment is titled Amortycan Grickfitti but it’s not yet known what will happen.

One of the latest episodes of Rick and Morty saw the young boy have his heart broken after embarking on a romance with Planetina (Alison Brie).

While Rick and Morty get caught in acid rain, Planetina arrives and puts a stop to it.

Morty immediately falls for her.

Beth (Sarah Chalke) forbids her son from dating Planetina but Morty runs away to be with the environmental super-heroine.

The pair run off together to save the world but things soon take a turn for the worse.

Planetina stumbles upon a coal mine and when the workers refuse to stop, she kills everyone inside by destroying it.

Morty is devastated by his girlfriend’s actions and decides they have to end their romance.

Heartbroken, he is consoled by his mother who explains she understands his pain.

Meanwhile, Rick takes Summer (Spencer Grammer) to three planets which are about to be destroyed to have large sexual parties.

They decide not to commit to anyone but Rick breaks the rules and brings Daphne along on their trip.

Summer tries to point out Daphne doesn’t really love Rick but he refuses to listen to her.

It’s not until Summer blows up the asteroid set to destroy the third planet, Daphne’s true motives are revealed.

She explains she no longer needs Rick to survive as her planet isn’t about to be destroyed.

The episode was supposed to have an extra Morty and Planetina twist but writer Dan Harmon explained the ending was axed.

He detailed: “I thought it would be the biggest mistake in the world to end an episode like that with her dumping him.”

Writer Rob Schrab added: “At first it was going to be Morty getting his heartbroken for the first time, but it wasn’t until Dan said, ’No, this is a story about Morty breaking somebody’s heart.’”

Commenting on Beth’s reaction, Rob added: “This is the first time we’re getting to see Beth be motherly, usually the joke is that she doesn’t care about her kid.”

Rick and Morty season 5 airs Sundays on Adult Swim and Monday on E4 in the UK.
