Sarah Ferguson says Princess Diana would have been ‘so proud’ of Meghan Markle

Sarah Ferguson, also known as Fergie, explained to Christine Lampard on Tuesday's episode of Lorraine that Princess Diana would have been "so proud" of Meghan Markle.

As the former wife of Prince Andrew – the third child of Queen Elizabeth II and the late Prince Philip – naturally the conversation gravitated to her royal connections.

Prince Harry and Meghan, who officially left the Royal Family on March 31 last year, came up in the context of discussion and host Christine was keen to capture Fergie's views on the situation.

Rather than give her own view, the royal author provided the opinion that she believed Diana would have held.

The Duchess of York said: "Well I think Diana and I went through enormous things without social media in the 80s, and we really went through a lot Christine.

"It was really very very tough."

She went on: "And if she was here today, I know that she would just be completely like an eagle.

"She would fly high and be so proud of her two sons and their wonderful wives who have delivered amazing children.

"I mean it really is a total blessing."

Earlier this year, Meghan Markle dropped a huge bombshell in the interview with Oprah Winfrey, claiming that a member of the Royal Family had questioned her son Archie's skin colour, before he was born.

Touching on the subject of race, Sarah firmly explained her beliefs on the matter.

Sarah continued: "I say this very openly race, free colour or any other denomination, no judgement.

"It doesn't matter who you are, where you are, just be who you are with integrity, goodness and kindness."

During the frank discussion, she spoke about her playful relationship with her late sister-in-law The Princess of Wales.

Fergie joked: "And I think if she [Diana] was here too, she would beat me to the bouncy castle because she always used to beat me in running races.

"She would always win the races so I would probably bounce her off of the castle."
