Sunday’s Strictly Come Dancing saw Adam Peaty, 26, in the dance-off with professional partner Katya Jones. The duo managed to secure their place in the show after judges unanimously chose to save them over Jodi Love and Graziano Di Prima. But the swimmer might not be feeling too relieved, as the latest Ladbrokes odds have him down as the next contestant to leave the BBC competition.

The bookies have installed Adam at just 13/8 to be the next celebrity out, while 5/2 says Dan Walker will be given his marching orders.

Following closely behind, Rhys Stephenson sits at 7/2, with Sara Davies at 9/2.

The remaining contestants fancied are at 12/1 or over to leave.

Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: “Unfortunately for Adam, it looks like Strictly is a medal too far for him and he could dive out of the competition this weekend.”

It comes as the show starts to heat up, with the landmark Halloween week now over.

Week six saw Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice at the top of the leaderboard, with the first 40 of the season.

The couple made history as earliest that the mark of 40 has been awarded in the show’s history.

The EastEnders star and Strictly professional performed a Tango to Ed Sheeran’s Shivers.

Following closely behind were AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington, with 37 points for their Viennese Waltz, which they performed to Ariana Grande’s Dangerous Woman.

Adam and Katya were placed in the middle of the leaderboard with 29 points, but didn’t receive enough votes from the public to secure an instant place in week seven.

The contestant threw his support behind fellow Strictly star Rose when he praised her dance on Twitter.

In view of his 140,000 followers, he shared a video of the couple performing their routine.

He added: “Just loving watching @RoseAylingEllis and @pernicegiovann1 dance every time.

“She is the nicest person I’ve ever met and is great to see them both get 40!!!”

He later followed this with another Tweet to thank fans for their support following the dance-off.

Posting photos of himself looking pensive, he wrote: “How it feels to be in the bottom.

“Unfortunately this week it meant I was going against @1judilove and @grazianodiprima who are incredible competitors and people.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far, thank you to @Mrs_katjones for being fantastic.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.45pm on BBC One.
