Phillip Schofield has accused Prince Harry of dodging a question regarding the Royal Family.
Phil and Holly Willoughby were presenting This Morning on Thursday (April 21) when they began discussing the Duke of Sussex's latest interview with NBC News and whether it has "widened the rift with the palace."
In a short clip from the Today Show, Prince Harry was asked whether he missed his father and his brother, to which he responded with: "For me at the moment I'm here focussed on these guys and these families and giving everything I can to them.
Reflecting on the clip, Phil said: "You don't get a bigger dodge of a question than that do you."
Speaking to guests Vanessa Feltz and Nicola Corp, Vanessa gave her take and agreed with Phil’s statement.
She said: “No and you think what it would have cost him to say yes of course or very much or indeed I do or something because that’s a slap in the face.”
Vanessa brought up Prince Harry’s “highly controversial” comments about wanting to make the Queen is protected and that she has the right people around her and she believes people have made “high exceptions.”
Nicola provided a balance to the debate and said: “I think he’s under a lot of unfair scrutiny possibly he was already expecting that this was going to happen therefore dodged the question.”
The 33-year-old stated that there have been royal experts on the circuit and that prior to this interview, Prince Charles told his son to “under no circumstances” mention him in the interview.
Vanessa opposed Nicola’s view of unfair scrutiny because when you do a television interview, “that is the ultimate in scrutiny.”
The broadcaster went on to say that she believes if you agree to an interview, you should be “as civil and uncontroversial” as possible, “especially when you’ve stirred up such an enormous maelstrom of bad feeling.”
Holly added that it does feel like “it’s harder for them to appear at the jubilee” while Phil chimed: “It looked pretty clear that he dodged the question and every time he does it you think ‘why are you doing this? You’re making it worse.”
