Travis Scott Accused by NBA Legend Dennis Rodman of Stealing His Nike Shoe Design
The ‘SICKO MODE’ rapper, who recently filed to legally change his son’s name with his baby mama Kylie Jenner, is called out by the NBA legend for allegedly copying his reverse Nike swoosh design.
AceShowbiz –Travis Scott (II) may need to explain where he got the idea for his sneaker designs. The “SICKO MODE” rapper has been accused by NBA legend Dennis Rodman for stealing his Nike shoe design.
At Got Sole’s recent sneaker convention in Chicago earlier this week, the 61-year-old former NBA player accused the 30-year-old rapper of plagiarizing his reverse Nike swoosh design. In a clip surfacing online, the Chicago Bulls legend held up a pair of the emcee’s collaborations with Air Jordan 1 from 2019 and asked him to give him the credit for his original design.
“Travis Scott has copied my shoe,” Dennis said in the video addressing the father-of-two, who recently filed to legally change his son’s name with his baby mama Kylie Jenner. “Come on, Travis,” he continued. “Give me some credit, you know?”
Dennis goes on to claim that Travis copied the backward swoosh from his signature Nike Air Darwin sneakers from the mid-1990s. “You copied my s**t,” he said in the clip. “This ain’t new, brother,” he added. “But either way, congratulations.”
In 2019, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG sneakers were released in a mocha and white color-way. The collaborative shoe featured a backwards Nike swoosh – which also appeared on other shoes from the Travis collection.
During his time at the San Antonio Spurs in the early ’90s, Dennis modeled the Nike Air Darwin before they were released to the public in 1994. The sneakers did not bear his name, however, many considered it to be his signature that he sported during his first two seasons with the Spurs.
The “Astroworld” hitmaker has not yet responded to Dennis’ claims, probably because he’s got his hands full with his son’s name change saga. In newly obtained court documents, the rapper and his baby mama filed to make the name change official, with both parties signing off the change from Wolfe Jacques Webster to Aire Webster.
In the legal documents, the former couple wrote that they “regret the initial name choice.” It’s also said that they “have had the chance to spend time with their baby, they believe the name Aire Webster is a better fit.”
Aire means “Lion of God” in Hebrew, but some fans pointed out that it’s slang for penis in Arabic. “God help her if she comes to the Middle East,” one user trolled on Twitter. Someone else added, “all my Lebanese people [are] wheezing right now.”
