Ray Quinn, who rose to fame on The X Factor back in 2006, made the switch when the pandemic hit in early 2020. But his career path isn’t the only thing that’s changed, as his latest Instagram photos reveal the 33-year-old has grown out his hair and inked both of his arms in tattoos.
My dad was a carpet fitter all his life. He taught my brothers how to do it
In his social media snap posted on Thursday, Ray can be seen sitting at a table while out for dinner.
His caption read: “Hope everyone had a boss Christmas!”
“Btw the food here was,” along with a thumbs-up emoji.
His bulging arms were on full display as his elbows rested on the table.

In his heyday, Ray made history when he became the youngest male artist to earn a number one on the UK album chart despite not having released any single in support of the project.
The record sold over 100,000 copies in the UK, subsequently earning him a Gold certification.
Unfortunately, the Knowsley local was dropped from Syco’s roster the following year, which led him to switch to acting, playing roles such as Doody in Grease the Musical and Billy Kostecki in Dirty Dancing.
He’s also portrayed the character of Danny Zuko in Grease: The Musical and Prince Charming in Cinderella, to name a few.
In 2009, Ray was back on top when he won the fourth series of ITV’s Dancing On Ice before embarking on the Torvill and Dean Tour.
He would return for the All-Stars edition in 2014, which he also won.
By 2018, Ray landed a recurring role as the right-wing extremist Jonny Baxter in Channel 4’s Hollyoaks, which he played for a year.
He now lives a quiet life in Liverpool with his schoolteacher girlfriend, Emily Ashleigh. The pair announced their engagement on New Year’s Eve two years ago.
In a recent interview with OK! Magazine, Ray opened up about his new life, having left behind his acting and singing days for a full-time job as a carpet fitter in the family business.
After his father’s death in November 2020, Ray and his brothers, Darren and Robin, decided to take over the company, and it appears he hasn’t looked back since.
“My dad was a carpet fitter all his life. He taught my brothers how to do it,” he told the publication.
“When I first started, I actually went to work in my dad’s old uniform.
“He’d always say you can work your way out of anything; to keep your head up high – and that’s what I’ve done.”
As for his wedding to Emily, the pair are still planning for their big day, but one thing which seems inevitable is that Ray will not be singing at their wedding.
The latter explained his reason to Entertainment Daily in 2020, insisting that Emily told him not to grace the stage with a microphone in his hand.
“She said no,” Ray quipped.
“She can’t stop me, I suppose, once I’ve had a few beers!”
