Paramount Plus’ hit series Yellowstone recently returned with a fourth season which finally gave viewers an insight into the fate of their favourite characters. Its return also saw Jamie Dutton (played by Wes Bentley) find the identity of the person who wanted to kill his family and an unfulfilling confrontation left fans beyond disappointed.

The highly-anticipated season four followed the aftermath of the attempted murder’s on three members of the Dutton family.

Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) had an explosive sent to her office, Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) hid from armed men and their father John Dutton (Kevin Costner) was shot on the roadside.

Thankfully, much to the fans’ relief they all survived and began the challenge of finding out who was behind the hit.

In episode four, John discovered an incarcerated man, Riggins (Bruno Amato) was the one who ordered the murders however his motives were unknown.

Jamie, who often felt like the black sheep of the family, was tasked with finding out more about Riggins and his motives.

Season three unveiled a shocking revelation when John revealed his second eldest son Jamie was in fact adopted.

The patriarch informed him his biological father was serving time in prison after murdering his mother when he was just three months old.

This caused Jamie to become curious about his lineage and trace his background until he eventually found his father Garrett Randall (Will Patton)

Much to the viewers and Jamie’s surprise, he eventually discovered his biological father was behind the attacks.

In the previous episode, he went to confront Garratte about the attempted murder on his family but was stopped when he was surprised by his estranged wife and child.

Armed with a rifle, in episode six, fans finally got to see Jamie confront him, however, things took an unexpected turn when he suddenly broke down in his father’s arms.

This left viewers beyond disappointed in the character as they took to Twitter to express their annoyance.

TamiekaChisolm was beyond annoyed as she tweeted: “Jamie is so stupid.”

ShellyKaynyc tweeted: “Ok Jamie, I knew you weren’t going to do anything & that’s low Dude, even for a spineless a** like you. Your bio Father tried to kill the family you grew up with!!!”

Realor2tc was also stunned: “What the heck? Come on Jamie. So disappointed. Really?”

While Jflotv warned the character: “Jamie don’t listen to him.”

RockysoboTka added: “Can someone please kill Jamie, like now? He might be the most easily manipulated dipstick in the history of ever.”

Jamie broke down in tears and fell into his father’s arms after Garratt began scolding him and told him stories of how the Dutton’s made him weak.

Although Jamie claimed they loved him and they were his family, Garratt was having none of it and said they would never help him reach his full potential.

When he appeared to have fully manipulated Jamie, he admitted to ordering the hit and confessed he would try again.

Perhaps, this was a ploy for Jamie to get a confession from Garratt, however, if not he will be very conflicted about revealing the truth to John.

Yellowstone season four continues Sunday on Paramount Plus.
