Strictly ‘favouritism’ row erupts as fans rage at Week Two dance trend
Amanda Abbington shuts down feud rumours with Gio and says they ‘laugh a lot’
Strictly Come Dancing has found themselves at the centre of a “favouritism row” after two dancers have been given unique dances for the second week running.
Traditionally all the stars perform a dance from the same pool of well-known ballroom favourites.
This is mainly the case this week, as Zara McDermott, Layton Williams, and Annabel Croft will all be performing a Quickstep while Krishan Guru-Murthy, Ellie Leach and Angela Rippon will take on the Foxtrot.
The Charleston, always a Strictly favourite is on the agenda for Nikita Kanda and Bobby Brazier, while Adam Thomas will take on the Tango.
Les Dennis and his pro partner Nancy Xu will perform a Samba, while Jody Cundy will tackle the Paso Doble. Eddie Kadi will face a Cha Cha, and Angela Scanlon will perform a Jive.

However, Nigel Harman and Amanda Abbington are performing dances unlike any others as they will take on the Viennese Waltz and Saldaq, respectively.
It has happened in the past, that a celebrity would perform a specific and unique dance.
Despite this, some fans have taken issue with the fact that this is the second week running that both Nigel and Amanda will be performing a completely different routine from their cast mates.
Over on X, formerly known as Twitter, @AthonTony commented: “Amanda and Nigel getting dance styles no one else is dancing, two weeks in a row… #Strictly.” (sic)

Over on Instagram a disgruntled fan with the handle @thornrey990 replied to the Strictly account’s post about the week two routines
“Hmmm, 2 weeks in a row that Nigel and Amanda get to be the only ones to dance a certain dance style, while the other contestants double or triple up???
“BBC producers favourites becoming very clear… They have both been given their own dance styles that no one else is dancing, two weeks in a row to help them stand out. So obviously someone is favouring them in production.” (sic)
Nigel topped the leaderboard last week with 32 points for his Pasa Doble while Amanda got a respectable 29 for her Viennese Waltz.

Strictly Come Dancing returns tonight at 6.20pm on BBC One.
